Student Services

North Carolina Cyber Academy is committed to providing all students with an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from the school’s education program. We provide students with accessibility through resources tailored to each student’s abilities and needs, including assistive technologies and individualized support.  Caretakers with questions about any of these programs should speak to their child's teacher.

Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program

The purpose of the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program is to provide an appropriately challenging educational program for students who perform, or show potential for performing, at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment. Academically or intellectually gifted students require differentiated educational services beyond those ordinarily provided by the regular educational program.

Section 504 Accommodation Plans support students whose physical and mental disabilities substantially limit their functioning at school by providing accommodations that allow them to access their total school experience.  Children with Section 504 Accommodation Plans are considered general education students who simply require supports that help them attain a free and appropriate public education.

Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

The Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems Division at North Carolina Department of Public Instruction supports the implementation and sustainability of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a multi-tiered framework which promotes school improvement through engaging, research-based academic and behavioral practices.  NC MTSS employs a systems approach using data-driven problem solving to maximize growth for all.  The agency’s vision for MTSS is that every North Carolina pre-kindergarten-12th grade public education system implements and sustains all components of a Multi-Tiered System of Support to ensure college, career and community readiness for all students.
